When she was good....

I would love to begin this blog by telling you how wonderful it is to be vegan. To tell you about the purity and healthfulness of it all. That, however, would be a big fat lie.

The truth is, I am not really a vegan at all. I am an omnivore. Yep. Sometimes I eat my little friends. I'm not proud of that  - it's just a fact. I am not about being sanctimonious, this is just who I am - someone who would be better off being vegan - but I fall off the wagon on a routine basis. Rather than beat myself up over it, I have chosen to  embrace who I am.... carnivorous misgivings and all.

Now, before you post some horrific response to that last statement - be keenly aware that I have heard it all. In my  "past life" I have even pontificated endlessly about my own raw-food-vegan virtues. Sigh. Whatever. If you intend to scold, save if for someone else. I already know you are right. I already know that I am wrong...blah blah blah. Save it. Thanks.

What I would like to accomplish here is this: to encourage people to at least try adding some vegan meals to their weekly repertoire. It will help you be a bit healthier, save some money and a small herd of cattle or pigs or chickens or fish. If you can't commit to a vegan lifestyle, I want you to know that's alright in my book. Let's share some vegan recipes, shopping trips and tips and the things that inspire us to try to be kinder to the planet and our fellow inhabitants.

Peace and pass the (I know it's not vegan) chocolate.
